«И стал я разглядывать и вдруг увидел какие-то странные лица. Все это были странные, чудные фигуры, вполне прозаические, вовсе не Дон Карлосы и Позы, а вполне титулярные советники...»

At the time of the Dostoevsky Museum's creation, the range of materials available to the curators of its first exposition was extremely limited. A.F.Dostoevsky's collection was a valuable starting point, but the need for more items was felt from the very first days of the museum's existence. However, the name of Dostoevsky and the place where the museum had opened in his memory attracted enthusiasts and admirers of the great writer's genius. From the moment of the museum's foundation, and throughout its history, all kinds of people have taken part in its life. We hereby gratefully acknowledge those who supported the museum in its first years with their priceless gifts.

This wonderful tradition of contributing to the museum continues to this day. The museum has received support not only in the form of gifts, but also in other forms of participation in its activity; for example, help with materials necessary in assembling exhibits or in its administrative work. The museum accepts every form of support with the deepest gratitude, and all who provide such assistance are considered genuine friends of the museum.

In this difficult perod of crisis for Russian culture, non-governmental support for cultural institutions has acquired even greater significance. Forms of supports can be extremely diverse: for example, funds from sponsors, donations from private individuals, or grants given by both Russian and non-Russian organizations for the realization of various programs. Significant assistance can be offered by any organization able to help with materials necessary for repair work, for assembling exhibits, etc. As always, gifts adding to the museum's collection are very important.

We would like to express our most sincere gratitude to all the museum's friends for their invaluable support.
